Uzbekistan, ACWA Power advance energy and infrastructure projects
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held talks in Samarkand with a delegation led by ACWA Power Chairman Muhammad Abunayyan on the sidelines of the Asian Development Bank Board of Governors meeting. The discussions focused on expanding partnership and accelerating the implementation of joint investment projects.
The head of state noted the significant role of ACWA Power as one of Uzbekistan’s key foreign partners in the field of green energy. It was emphasized that new investment initiatives launched in December last year, including solar and wind power projects, are being implemented in line with approved plans.
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to promising areas of cooperation. These included projects for the construction of the “New Tashkent” international airport, the creation of a multidisciplinary medical facility in the city of Ferghana, and the launch of a modern data center in the IT Park.
It was separately noted that the expansion of the partnership goes beyond the energy sector and covers infrastructure, healthcare, and digital projects aimed at economic development and improving service quality.
At the conclusion of the meeting, representatives of the Saudi company expressed gratitude for ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan and the favorable investment climate created in the country, confirming their readiness for the timely and high-quality implementation of joint projects.
