Uzbekistan U17 Beat Australia 2–0 to Top Group D

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s under-17 national football team finished the group stage of the AFC U17 Asian Cup in first place in Group D after a 2–0 victory over Australia in their second match of the tournament.

The match was played with Uzbekistan in control for much of the game, and the team opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Mirkomil Murodov received the ball on the left flank and sent a precise shot into the right corner of the net to put his side ahead.

Just before halftime, in the 45th minute, Uzbekistan doubled its lead through Akhror Ravshanbekov. Following an attack down the left wing, he received a pass in a central position and finished from close range, approximately six to seven meters from goal.

After the group stage, Uzbekistan collected six points and secured first place in Group D. Australia finished second with three points.

In the quarterfinals, Uzbekistan will face the runner-up of Group C. Australia will play against the winner of that group. Both matches are scheduled for May 16.

It was previously noted that Uzbekistan’s U17 team had already secured qualification for the FIFA U17 World Cup, which will be held in November in Qatar.
