Uzbekistan, Latvia Discuss Employment and Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A meeting was held at Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Poverty Reduction and Employment between First Deputy Minister Marat Jurayev and a delegation from the Republic of Latvia led by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Girts Jaunzems, focusing on expanding cooperation in socio-economic areas and developing joint initiatives.

The sides discussed poverty reduction, increasing employment levels, support for farming households, and the development of cooperative forms of agricultural management. Special attention was given to strengthening professional and digital skills among citizens as a key factor in improving labor market competitiveness.

During the meeting, prospects were reviewed for implementing pilot projects to establish agricultural cooperatives in the Andijan and Ferghana regions. These regions are seen as potential testing grounds for new cooperation models in the agricultural sector.

As part of the Latvian delegation’s visit, meetings are also planned with local responsible agencies and visits to mahallas with potential for developing cooperative associations and expanding local employment opportunities.
