Uzbekistan and India discuss expansion of cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 15 May 2026, a meeting was held in New Delhi between First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bahromjon Aloev and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar. The talks took place on the sidelines of a meeting of foreign ministers of BRICS countries and were dedicated to the development of bilateral cooperation.
The sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level, as well as issues related to further strengthening political dialogue between Tashkent and New Delhi. Particular attention was given to expanding cooperation in trade and economic, investment, and cultural and humanitarian areas.
During the talks, both sides confirmed mutual interest in intensifying joint initiatives and deepening the partnership between the two countries.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to hold the 14th session of the Uzbekistan-India Intergovernmental Commission, as well as to organize the Uzbekistan-India Business Forum.
Both events are planned to take place within the framework of the 5th Tashkent International Investment Forum, scheduled for June this year.
