President Reviews Designs for Babur Monument in Andijan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has reviewed presentations of a range of construction and infrastructure projects across multiple sectors, including cultural heritage, education, and regional development. Special attention was given to an initiative aimed at commemorating the legacy of Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur.

The Head of State was presented with a project for the installation of a monument to the prominent statesman, military leader, and poet Babur as part of an architectural complex being developed in the city of Babur in Uzbekistan’s Andijan region. Project developers emphasized that the monument’s design places particular focus on artistic concept and thematic content reflecting Babur’s historical and cultural significance.

It was noted that the visual concept of the founder of the Baburid dynasty is being developed based on the study of historical sources, manuscripts, miniatures, cultural heritage materials, and academic research conducted by Uzbek and international experts. Draft designs of the monument and conceptual approaches to its composition were presented.

During the discussion, the President stressed the importance of fully reflecting Babur’s multifaceted personality as a poet, thinker, military commander, and state founder, highlighting the need to express his contribution to world civilization and ideas of governance through the monument’s artistic form.

It was separately noted that during a state visit to Pakistan, a park in Islamabad was named after Zahiriddin Muhammad Babur. In this context, a proposal is also being considered to install a monument to Babur in that park.

In addition, the President was briefed on additional projects, including strengthening the material and technical base of the Abu Rayhan Beruni International Boarding School, developing tourism and transport infrastructure in Bukhara, and modernizing cultural centers across the regions.

Following the presentation, the Head of State issued instructions to further refine the proposed initiatives, taking into account international best practices and improving implementation quality.
