Mirziyoyev congratulates Tokayev on his birthday

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation on 17 May, during which he warmly congratulated President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev on his birthday, wishing him good health, well-being, and continued success in state activities for the peace and prosperity of the Kazakh people.

The President of Uzbekistan also noted the high level of organization of the informal summit of the Organization of Turkic States and the substantive negotiations held in Turkestan. It was emphasized that these events gave new momentum to the development of mutually beneficial cooperation among member states.

During the conversation, the sides reviewed current issues related to further strengthening Uzbekistan–Kazakhstan relations of good-neighborliness, strategic partnership, and alliance in the context of implementing agreements reached at the highest level.

The positive dynamics of cooperation across all key areas were noted with satisfaction. In particular, systematic work is underway to increase bilateral trade turnover to 10 billion US dollars in the coming years, while investment cooperation is expanding, including within the framework of the International Center for Industrial Cooperation.

The sides also stressed the importance of implementing promising joint projects and initiatives in energy, transport, ecology, and cultural-humanitarian cooperation.

Special attention was given to shaping a new economic agenda within upcoming events, including a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, the first Council of Regional Leaders, and other bilateral mechanisms of cooperation.

At the end of the conversation, the parties also discussed the schedule of upcoming bilateral and multilateral events.
