ZTO Express Plans to Establish Smart Logistics Warehouses in Uzbekistan

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Minister of Transport, Ilhom Makhkamov, held talks with Hu Xianliang, President of the Chinese logistics company ZTO Express.

During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for developing Uzbekistan’s transport and logistics sector, as well as opportunities to implement joint infrastructure projects with the participation of Chinese companies and financial institutions.

Representatives of ZTO Express presented an overview of the company’s operations, highlighting its leading position in the logistics industry. The company specializes in receiving, storing, sorting, and delivering cargo to end consumers. Its key clients include major Chinese e-commerce platforms such as Alibaba Group, JD.com, and Pinduoduo.

The company’s president expressed interest in launching joint projects in Uzbekistan. In particular, the discussion focused on the construction and technical outfitting of warehouse facilities at airports using smart technologies, the creation of industrial parks for assembling logistics equipment with a view to exporting to neighboring countries, and the introduction of digital customs clearance solutions.

In response, the Minister of Transport invited the company to consider establishing logistics hubs in the Navoi region and proposed forming a partnership with the Tashkent State Transport University. He emphasized the importance of training qualified personnel and suggested launching educational programs for students and faculty, taking into account China’s advanced logistics expertise.

Following the meeting, the sides agreed to establish a working group to develop concrete areas of cooperation. Coordination of the next steps will be handled by the Center for the Study of Transport and Logistics Issues under the Ministry of Transport.
