Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 1 July 2025, Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jasurbek Choriev held a meeting with a delegation from South Korean company Hyundai Rotem, headed by Vice Presidents Kwak Chul Hoon and Lee Wonsang.

During the negotiations, representatives of the South Korean side presented updates on the current status of production processes and delivery timelines for the six high-speed electric trains ordered by Uzbekistan. Special attention was paid to adhering to the delivery schedule and to the technical configuration of the trainsets.

The parties also discussed prospects for expanding cooperation, including the potential implementation of new joint projects in the field of railway engineering, localization of production and technology transfer, as well as workforce training and the development of service infrastructure.

The contract for the supply and maintenance of the electric trains was signed between JSC "Uzbekistan Railways," JSC "Temiryulexpress," and Hyundai Rotem during the official visit of the President of the Republic of Korea to Uzbekistan in June 2024.

Under the terms of the US$195.7 million agreement, Hyundai Rotem will deliver six high-speed electric trains to Uzbekistan, comprising a total of 42 cars.

These electric trains will bear the name “Jaloliddin Manguberdi” and will operate along the Tashkent–Urgench–Khiva route.

Hyundai Rotem will also provide maintenance and repair services for the trains.
