Uzbekistan’s Insurance Market Grows 46% in the First Half of 2025

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the first half of 2025, insurance companies in Uzbekistan collected premiums totaling 6.23 trillion soums, representing a 46% increase compared to the same period last year, according to a report by the National Agency for Prospective Projects (NAPP).
Premiums in the general insurance segment reached 5.85 trillion soums, up 39.6%. Life insurance showed the most dynamic growth, with collected premiums totaling 384.22 billion soums, a 385.6% increase year-on-year.
Insurance payouts from January to June amounted to 1.24 trillion soums, up 11.6%. In the general insurance segment, payouts reached 1.18 trillion soums (+12.7%), while life insurance payouts decreased to 64.46 billion soums (-5.9%).
Total liabilities of insurance organizations at the end of June stood at 2.98 quadrillion soums, 44.6% higher than a year earlier. Investments in the sector exceeded 8.34 trillion soums (+36.5%), with 60.9% placed in deposits, 16.7% in securities, and 18.7% in real estate.
The market comprises 34 insurance companies, one fewer than a year ago, while the number of companies operating in life insurance increased to six.
In terms of premiums collected in the general insurance segment, Apex Insurance leads with 1.08 trillion soums (+38.8%), followed by My-Insurance with 354.54 billion soums (+48.9%) and Uzbekinvest with 312.3 billion soums (+15.8%).
In life insurance, Apex Life Insurance ranks first with 248.24 billion soums (+449.2%), followed by TBC Sug‘urta with 38.55 billion soums and Alfa Life Insurance with 18.04 billion soums (+69.1%).
For insurance payouts in the general segment, Apex Insurance also leads with 287.18 billion soums (-30.8%), followed by My-Insurance at 181.93 billion soums (+42.3%) and Gross Sug‘urta at 97.42 billion soums (+92.2%). In life insurance, the largest payouts were made by Apex Life Insurance at 46.16 billion soums, followed by Alfa Life Insurance with 8.7 billion soums (-23.4%) and Uzbekinvest Hayot with 6 billion soums (-60.1%).
By the number of active insurance contracts, My-Insurance leads with 1.27 million contracts (+42%), followed by Apex Insurance with 1.23 million contracts (+29.3%) and Uzbekinvest with 1.09 million (+8.4%).
