Uzbekistan's GDP to grow by 6% in 2025, says EBRD
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s economy is expected to grow by 6% in 2025, according to the latest Regional Economic Prospects report by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
In 2024, Uzbekistan’s GDP increased by 6.5%, exceeding the 6% growth forecasted in September. However, the bank projects a slight slowdown to 6% in 2025, with the same growth rate expected in 2026.
EBRD analysts attribute Uzbekistan’s strong economic performance in 2024 primarily to the expansion of the services sector.
Inflation peaked at 10.6% in mid-2024, driven by energy price liberalization, before easing to 9.8% by December.
Across Central Asia, economic growth slowed from 5.7% in 2023 to 5.4% in 2024, mainly due to stagnation in Kazakhstan’s mining sector and extreme weather conditions in Mongolia. The region’s growth is forecasted to accelerate to 5.7% in 2025 but decline again to 5.2% in 2026.
