Uzbekistan’s GDP grows by 6.8% in the first quarter
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — According to preliminary data from the National Statistics Committee, the Republic of Uzbekistan demonstrated steady growth in key economic sectors during January-March 2025.
The Gross Domestic Product (GDP) grew by 6.8%, reflecting a positive trend in the country’s economy.
Industrial production also saw growth, with the physical volume index reaching 106.5%. The volume of construction work increased by 10.8%, signaling active implementation of infrastructure projects.
Retail turnover grew by 9.5%, and the volume of market services provided increased by 12.6%. Agriculture, forestry, and fishing showed a growth of 3.8%.
Significant changes were observed in foreign trade. The foreign trade turnover rose by 8.6%, with exports increasing by 24.4% and imports declining by 2.3%.
As of 1 April 2025, there were 442,402 registered enterprises and organizations in the country. Freight transportation volumes grew by 2%, and passenger transportation increased by 4.3%.
Real incomes of the population rose by 9.8%, indicating an improvement in the citizens’ standard of living.
As of 1 April 2025, the population of the Republic of Uzbekistan was 37.7 million people.
