Uzbekistan’s Competition Development Committee Sends Notice to VFS Global Over Language Law Violations

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Competition Development Committee of Uzbekistan has sent an official notice to VFS Global regarding violations of the country’s state language legislation, the agency’s press service reported.

Recently, the committee has received an increasing number of citizen complaints about the operations of visa centers and consulting firms providing visa services. The complaints concern the absence of Uzbek language in documents, reference materials, and customer service.

For instance, a resident of Kashkadarya region, H. Eshonkulov, reported that at the VFS Global office, the voice menu, operator consultations, and documentation are provided only in Russian and English, violating consumer rights.

Referring to the provisions of the Law “On the State Language,” the Antimonopoly Committee issued an official notification to VFS Global, requiring the company to take corrective measures and respond within 10 days.

The committee emphasized that Uzbek is the state language and its use is regulated by law. Authorities stated that the situation remains under strict control and consumers must be provided with complete and accessible information in the state language.
