Uzbekistan’s Cadastral Agency Denies Corruption Allegations in Construction Sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Cadastral Agency has officially responded to a social media video titled “On Corruption in Construction”, which claimed that cadastral authorities were involved in issuing building permits.

The agency emphasized that such claims are unfounded. “The individual in the video is confusing different procedures. After purchasing a land plot, cadastral authorities register only the ownership rights to the land within two working days. This is not part of the construction permit process,” the agency explained.

It further clarified that land surveying and the issuance of a cadastral passport are carried out only after construction is completed. Registration of property rights in the state register takes place exclusively after the competent authorities issue a permit for the facility’s operation.

The Cadastral Agency stressed its strong opposition to any form of corruption and highlighted the strict measures in place to ensure transparency within the system.

The agency also urged entrepreneurs and citizens not to mislead the public with unfounded accusations and to immediately report any corruption cases to law enforcement agencies.

“Do not forget that under the laws of the Republic of Uzbekistan, both giving and accepting bribes carry the same punishment,” the statement concluded.

Earlier, the Ministry of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Uzbekistan has officially responded to claims by entrepreneur Usmonjon Abdusamatov regarding alleged corruption and unjustified refusals in the issuance of construction permits.
