Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, and Azerbaijan Agree on a Cooperation Roadmap

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev made press statements following their negotiations.

The President of Uzbekistan highly praised the outcomes, stressing that the meeting clearly demonstrated the firm political will of the three sides to deepen their strategic partnership in the interests of their peoples.

The talks placed particular emphasis on the development of transit corridors, including more effective use of the potential of the Turkmenbashi and Baku ports, as well as the creation of modern logistics infrastructure.

Detailed discussions were held on aligning existing and prospective regional routes to advance the integration of national transport systems. Uzbekistan, in this context, advocated for a coordinated policy in the sector, particularly in tariff regulation and in creating favorable conditions for businesses entering foreign markets.

The sides agreed on the joint implementation of projects aimed at developing logistics infrastructure and organizing ferry services across the Caspian Sea. They also reviewed prospects for cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of hydrocarbon deposits and the export of electricity.

Trade expansion and the strengthening of industrial cooperation were also key items on the agenda. It was underlined that measures will be taken to stimulate mutual supplies of competitive products from national producers and to create conditions for launching new investment projects, taking into account the potential of the regions of the three countries.

The leaders also agreed to strengthen collaboration in the rational use of water resources, addressing environmental challenges, and to adopt a joint program in tourism and cultural exchanges.

Implementation of the agreements and signed documents will be ensured at the level of the relevant ministries in line with the “roadmap.”

In conclusion, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized that the meeting carries historic significance, as it opens new opportunities for deepening mutually beneficial cooperation, contributes to the creation of sustainable trade, transport, and energy corridors, and accelerates the processes of regional integration.
