Uzbekistan to Simplify Processing of Uncontested Cases

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Legislative Chamber of Parliament of Uzbekistan has reviewed in second reading a draft law aimed at improving procedures for resolving uncontested cases and simplifying their consideration.

The document provides for a revision of the list of cases involving certain undisputed claims considered under court order procedures within the Civil Procedure Code and the Economic Procedure Code. The main objective of the bill is to improve the efficiency of the judicial system and reduce the time required for handling such cases.

Under the proposed amendments, claims for recovery of arrears on lease payments, mandatory contributions and payments by apartment owners in multi-unit residential buildings, as well as utility and telecommunications services, will be considered under simplified court order proceedings if the claim amount exceeds one thousand times the basic calculation value.

Cases involving undisputed claims below the established threshold are expected to be transferred to notaries. As noted during the discussions, this approach will help reduce the burden on courts and speed up the processing of uncontested claims.

In addition, the draft law introduces amendments to the Law “On State Duty.” The amount of fees for issuing enforcement inscriptions will be aligned with the actual costs incurred by notaries when performing relevant notarial actions.

According to the authors of the document, the adoption of the law will contribute to expanding notarial services, improving their quality, and further enhancing mechanisms for resolving uncontested claims.

Following discussions, deputies approved the draft law in second reading.
