Uzbekistan Receives 500,000 Mini-Tubers of the “CARA” Potato Variety
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A major shipment of high-yield seed potatoes of the “CARA” variety has been delivered to Uzbekistan.
According to the Dunyo news agency, 500,000 G0 generation mini-tubers, provided free of charge by the Egyptian company EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E., arrived in Tashkent.
Planting is scheduled for August and will be carried out by Agro Gold Premium on protected plots in the Kashkadarya region. The plan is to further propagate the tubers and distribute them to farmers across the country.
On 26 July, agronomist Muhammad al-Said from EFC Plants Tissue Culture S.A.E. arrived in Uzbekistan to oversee the cultivation process. He will provide hands-on assistance with soil preparation, laboratory analysis of soil and water, as well as planting and crop maintenance through the end of the season.
The delivery follows agreements reached during the visit of a Kashkadarya regional delegation to Egypt from 28 to 30 June.
As a result of the talks, a memorandum of understanding was signed with EFC Plants in line with directives issued by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his 19–20 June trip to the region.
