Uzbekistan ranks second in the CIS by number of airlines

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan is home to 12 registered airlines, placing it second among CIS (Commonwealth of Independent States) countries in terms of the number of operating carriers, according to Finprom.

In terms of aircraft fleet size, Uzbekistan ranks third, with 93 aircraft operated by domestic carriers. It trails behind Russia, which has 748 aircraft, and Kazakhstan, which ranks second with 98.

The airline Silkavia boasts the youngest fleet in the CIS, with an average aircraft age of just four years.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, SpaceBee Airline operates the oldest fleet in the region, with its aircraft averaging 40.2 years of age.

Russia leads the CIS with 39 registered airlines. Kazakhstan comes in third with 10 airlines, although it surpasses Uzbekistan in fleet size, placing second in that category.

In total, 96 airlines operate across the CIS, collectively managing a fleet of approximately 1,100 aircraft.
