Uzbekistan Railways delegation discusses cooperation prospects with South Korea
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from JSC "Uzbekistan Railways" visited South Korea to discuss the prospects for cooperation in the field of railway transportation. The visit took place from 8 to 11 April 2025, and was led by the First Deputy Chairman of the company, Khusniddin Rakhmetov.
The delegation also included representatives from the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Finance, and "Boshtransloyikha."
During the visit, important negotiations were held with leaders of major South Korean companies such as "EximBank," "Hyundai Rotem," "Korail," "Korea National Railway," "Saman Corporation," and "Dongmyung." Key issues concerning bilateral cooperation in the railway transport sector were discussed.
One of the main topics of the negotiations was the design of high-speed railways, which will open new opportunities for the development of Uzbekistan's transport infrastructure. The parties also discussed the procurement of rolling stock and options for providing preferential loans for joint projects.
Particular attention was given to the exchange of experience in the field of digitalization and the enhancement of workforce qualifications, which is an essential part of the efficient functioning of the railway sector. A decision was made to conduct training for railway workers, covering staff qualification improvements, learning new technologies and methodologies, as well as enhancing competencies in train movement safety and technical operation of infrastructure.
The program aims to prepare highly qualified specialists capable of solving the tasks of modernizing the railway system and ensuring the sustainable development of the transport industry in the country.
This visit marked an important step in strengthening cooperation between Uzbekistan and South Korea in the field of railway transportation.
The results of the negotiations create a solid foundation for further fruitful collaboration, contributing to the development of infrastructure and improving the quality of services.
