Uzbekistan plans to triple copper production and expand processing — Minister of Energy
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In the coming years, Uzbekistan plans to triple its copper production, as reported by the Minister of Energy, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov.
According to him, the implementation of related projects is already actively underway. Along with increasing production, special attention will be given to the development of high-value-added manufacturing, which will significantly expand the country’s export potential.
Additionally, active geological exploration continues in the country for prospective deposits of lithium, phosphorites, and other strategically important minerals.
It was previously reported that Uzbekistan aims to process up to 300,000 tons of copper per year domestically. To this end, industrial clusters, technoparks, and joint ventures focused on producing finished copper products are being established.
