Uzbekistan participates in customs meeting of Turkic states in Budapest
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 15 to 17 April, a delegation from Uzbekistan led by Akmalkhuja Mavlonov, Chairman of the Customs Committee, took part in the First Informal Meeting of Customs Administrations of member and observer states of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), held in Budapest.
The event aimed to strengthen cooperation in customs administration, particularly in the context of digitalization and the growth of e-commerce. Participants discussed trade facilitation, the introduction of modern technologies, and the enhancement of human resources. The Uzbek side presented ongoing customs reforms and expressed readiness to deepen international cooperation.
During the visit, the head of Uzbekistan’s Customs Committee met with Krisztián Baka, Deputy National Commissioner for Taxes and Customs and Head of the Hungarian Customs Service. Following the talks, the two sides signed a Joint Action Plan for 2025–2026 under the existing Memorandum of Understanding between the two countries.
The Uzbek delegation also familiarized itself with the operations of the customs service at Budapest International Airport, particularly practices related to e-commerce control, and visited the “Röszke” border checkpoint on the Hungarian-Serbian border.
The visit marked an important step toward expanding regional and bilateral cooperation in the customs sphere.
