Uzbekistan Legally Defines Types of Continuing Education

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — At its tenth plenary session, the Senate of the Oliy Majlis approved the Law “On Amendments and Additions to Certain Legislative Acts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Aimed at Improving the Sphere of Educational Services.”

The law continues broad reforms designed to enhance the quality of education and implement constitutional guarantees for all citizens.

A key change is the formal replacement of the term “extracurricular education” with “continuing education” in line with international best practices. The law provides a clear definition of continuing education, divided into two categories: for children and for adults.

It establishes that state institutions for continuing education are created in coordination with relevant republican executive authorities. Non-state organizations may offer continuing education for children with notification to the Ministry of Preschool and School Education, and for adults under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Innovation.

Senators emphasized that these innovations will resolve legal inconsistencies and ensure uniform application of regulations governing the continuing education system.
