Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan agree on summer operation regimes for water and energy systems
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 May 2025, the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a working meeting attended by Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, Minister of Water Resources Shavkat Khamraev, Kazakhstan’s Minister of Energy Yerlan Akkenzhenov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, and Kyrgyzstan’s Minister of Energy Taalaibek Ibraev, along with other senior officials.
The meeting focused on ensuring the stable operation of the water and energy systems shared by Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan during the upcoming summer period. The parties also coordinated the operational schedules of their power grids, taking into account seasonal demand.
Special attention was given to the progress of joint projects, including the ongoing construction of the Kambarata HPP-1, and to the coordination of the region’s water and energy balance.
As a result of the meeting, the parties signed a corresponding protocol and agreed to hold further events within the trilateral dialogue framework in the near future.
