Uzbekistan establishes cooperation with Georgia’s public procurement agency
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 5 March, Tashkent hosted the 10th meeting of the Uzbek-Georgian Joint Commission on Economic Cooperation.
Georgia’s electronic public procurement system is among the most efficient, having been developed in line with European Union requirements in the field of state procurement. This system has become a model for countries seeking to implement reforms in this area.
The introduction of an electronic procurement system in Georgia has fostered free and fair competition while significantly reducing corruption risks.
In recent years, Uzbekistan has been improving its legislative framework governing public procurement. Alongside these efforts, an electronic procurement system has been introduced to ensure transparency and open access to information.
Reforming this sector based on advanced international experience and strengthening cooperation with foreign partners remains a priority.
In this context, a memorandum on developing cooperation with Georgia’s State Procurement Agency was signed during the event.
The document outlines plans for enhancing electronic procurement systems, expanding the use of artificial intelligence, centralizing procurement procedures, and advancing mechanisms to support "green" public procurement.
Georgia’s experience in public procurement and the modern mechanisms employed in the country will contribute to further improvements in Uzbekistan’s public procurement system.
