Uzbekistan Defeats Iran 1–0 to Win CAFA Nations Cup Final

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Uzbekistan national football team claimed victory in the CAFA Nations Cup final, defeating Iran 1–0.

The match began dramatically as Iranian defender Aria Yousefi was shown a straight red card in the third minute for a reckless foul on Abbosbek Fayzullaev, leaving Iran with ten men.

Despite the numerical advantage, Uzbekistan struggled to break through the Iranian defense. Regular time ended goalless, pushing the game into extra time.

Late in the additional period, Oston Urunov won a penalty, but captain Eldor Shomurodov fired his shot over the crossbar.

Just as fans were bracing for a penalty shootout, Khojakbar Alijonov rose to meet a cross and headed the ball into the far corner, sealing Uzbekistan’s victory.

With this dramatic finish, the national team secured the CAFA Nations Cup trophy.
