Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has amended the procedure for forming and maintaining the register of importers of certain types of international brand goods imported under direct contracts with rights holders or their authorized suppliers (official distributors, dealers, manufacturers’ sales representatives, their distributors, and licensees). This was reported by the Customs Committee of Uzbekistan.

The mandatory period for confirming a brand’s presence on the market has been reduced from five to three years.

To unify legislative norms in the field of branding, the names of certain countries have been replaced by regional designations in the documents.

Specifically, countries such as Japan and the UAE have been removed from the list and replaced with regions defined as the Middle East and East Asia.

It should be recalled that since January 1, 2023, reduced import customs duty rates have been applied in Uzbekistan for certain categories of international brand goods imported under direct contracts with brand owners or their authorized suppliers.
