Uzbekistan Bought 9 Tonnes of Gold in June, Remains Top Seller for First Half of 2025
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Global central banks increased their gold reserves by 22 tonnes in June 2025. Net purchases for the first half of the year totaled 123 tonnes, slightly below the 130 tonnes recorded during the same period in 2024, according to the World Gold Council (WGC).
Uzbekistan led global gold purchases in June, acquiring 9 tonnes and ending a four-month selling streak. Despite this, the country remained the largest net seller of gold in the first half of 2025, with total net sales of around 19 tonnes.
Kazakhstan ranked second in June, with the National Bank increasing its gold reserves by 7 tonnes. Other countries reported relatively modest purchases.
Poland remains the largest net gold buyer in 2025, having added 67 tonnes to its reserves. Significant purchases were also made by Azerbaijan (35 tonnes) and Kazakhstan (22 tonnes).
