Uzbekistan Approves Measures for the Development of Oilseed Crop Cultivation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 14 July 2025, the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted Resolution No. 438 introducing additional measures to support the development of oilseed crop cultivation across the country.
The resolution aims to promote the rational use of land resources, improve agronomic practices, and expand the raw material base for the oil and fat industry.
Under the resolution, specific districts have been designated to specialize in the production of oilseed crop seeds. Based on soil and climatic conditions, the cultivation of oilseeds will be allowed within crop rotation systems on up to 5 percent of irrigated agricultural lands.
Given the agronomic impact of sunflower cultivation on soil structure and fertility, the practice of planting green manure crops after primary and repeat sunflower harvests will be implemented, along with deep autumn plowing to improve the soil’s agrochemical properties.
A key component of the resolution is the introduction of digital regulatory mechanisms. Contracts between oil and fat processing enterprises and agricultural producers for the purchase of oilseed crops will be concluded exclusively through the “Agroplatform” information system.
Starting with the 2026 harvest, an accurate accounting system will be introduced for the areas sown with oilseed crops. Additionally, a scientifically grounded crop rotation system will be piloted on 500 hectares, aimed at improving land-use efficiency and enhancing the sustainability of agricultural production.
