Uzbekistan and the UN aim to seepen cooperation in green technologies and sustainable development

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 17 February, a meeting took place between Sabine Mahl, the UN Resident Representative in Uzbekistan, and Umid Abidhadjaev, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance of Uzbekistan.

The discussions focused on various projects aimed at developing the green economy, their implementation results, measures to combat climate change, and prospects for deepening cooperation between the parties. Particular attention was given to key issues, including initiatives supporting green economic growth.

The meeting examined the economic impact and effectiveness of Uzbekistan’s ongoing green initiatives, as well as projects implemented in collaboration with the UN Development Programme (UNDP) to enhance energy efficiency and expand the use of renewable energy sources.

Regarding climate change mitigation, the discussions centered on measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, achieve carbon neutrality, and leverage international experience in addressing climate challenges.

The integration of green principles into social sectors was also a major topic. Projects for developing energy-efficient infrastructure in education and healthcare were reviewed, alongside strategies for introducing green technologies.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides agreed to further develop and expand their cooperation.
