Uzbekistan and the State of Utah discuss prospects for cooperation in mining and geological fields
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 16 May 2025, Otabek Nasritdinhodzhaev, First Deputy Minister of the Mining and Geology Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held talks with a delegation from the U.S. state of Utah. Representatives from the Ministry also took part in the meeting.
During the dialogue, the ongoing reforms in Uzbekistan’s mining sector were thoroughly reviewed, along with the favorable conditions being created for foreign investors. The parties also explored prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation, taking into account Utah’s economic potential and its advanced developments in mining geology.
Special attention was given to opportunities for collaboration in investment, the introduction of innovative technologies, and conducting joint scientific research.
Additionally, the sides discussed upgrading the qualifications of the teaching staff and students at the University of Geological Sciences under the Ministry, as well as the potential establishment in Uzbekistan of branches of leading Utah universities such as the University of Utah and Utah State University, which specialize in training professionals in geology and mining.
Both parties expressed mutual interest in establishing a long-term and substantive partnership.
