Uzbekistan and Singapore sign memorandum to develop semiconductor industry

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has signed a new memorandum of cooperation with Singapore in the field of semiconductor industry development.

The “Uzeltekhsanoat” Association entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Institute of Microelectronics (IME), part of Singapore’s Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR), and with the Singapore Semiconductor Industry Association (SSIA).

According to Uzeltekhsanoat, this partnership is more than a formal agreement — it represents a strategic step that opens new avenues for Uzbekistan on the global technology stage. Singapore, one of the world’s leading semiconductor hubs, is seen as a trusted partner offering shared expertise, cutting-edge technologies, and joint development prospects.

The agreement outlines plans to implement training and upskilling programs for specialists, conduct joint research projects, and introduce educational workshops and academic modules focused on innovative technologies. It also includes knowledge exchange, advanced technological solutions, and collaborative lab-based research.

Through this cooperation, Uzbekistan not only gains access to advanced technologies but also the opportunity to internalize, refine, and develop its own export potential in the semiconductor sector.

With this initiative, the Uzeltekhsanoat Association aims to leverage modern infrastructure, international partnerships, and human capital to transform Uzbekistan into a leading semiconductor hub in Central Asia.
