Uzbekistan and Serbia Agree to Launch an Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 29 July, Uzbekistan’s Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov held online talks with Nenad Popović, Serbia’s Minister for International Economic Cooperation.

During the dialogue, the parties discussed prospects for expanding trade, economic, and investment ties, with particular focus on increasing mutual trade turnover, implementing joint industrial and agro‑industrial projects, and fostering cooperation in the fields of pharmaceuticals, renewable energy, and mechanical engineering.

Special attention was given to preparations for upcoming joint events and to strengthening the institutional framework of bilateral cooperation.

As a result of the talks, an agreement was reached to launch the mechanism of an Intergovernmental Commission to ensure regular coordination and prompt resolution of emerging issues. The sides also agreed to draft and sign an Agreement on Trade and Economic Cooperation and a Roadmap for deepening economic partnership, covering a broad range of practical measures and promising projects.

The readiness to intensify business contacts, establish resilient production chains, and develop high value‑added projects was also reaffirmed.

These arrangements are expected to give fresh impetus to the development of Uzbekistan–Serbia economic relations.
