Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 26 February 2025, Uzbekistan’s Deputy Minister of Investments, Industry, and Trade, Ilzat Kasymov, held a meeting with Najib Ramli, Director of Strategy and Investments at Malaysia’s MMC Corporation.

Founded in 1911, MMC Corporation operates in four key sectors: ports and logistics, energy and utilities, engineering, and industrial projects. The corporation's total assets amount to US$5.7 billion, with a revenue of US$1.1 billion in 2023.

During the negotiations, the parties discussed the implementation of agreements reached during the high-level visit to Malaysia on February 4–5 of this year. In particular, they focused on the creation and management of special economic zones (SEZs) in various regions of Uzbekistan.

Both sides expressed confidence that a partnership with MMC Corporation would make a significant contribution to the development of Uzbekistan’s logistics and industrial infrastructure while creating favorable conditions for attracting foreign investment. The company's leadership praised Uzbekistan’s business environment and positively assessed the proposed locations for SEZs. As part of the visit, the Ministry of Investments, Industry, and Trade organized a site tour for the Malaysian delegation.

Following the meeting, a roadmap was developed to ensure the successful implementation of the joint project.
