Uzbekistan and Malaysia Strengthen Investment Cooperation
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan to Malaysia, Karomiddin Gadoev, held a meeting with Imran Salim, Managing Director of one of the country’s leading construction and development companies, Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), the Dunyо news agency reports.
During the discussion, the head of the Malaysian company provided a detailed overview of MRCB’s current activities. The company holds a leading position in the Malaysian market, implementing large-scale projects in transportation infrastructure, residential and commercial construction, including those based on public-private partnership (PPP) models.
Imran Salim expressed interest in expanding cooperation with Uzbekistan and exploring opportunities to launch joint investment projects. According to him, particular attention is given to advanced solutions in water resource management and modernization of water supply systems, which are key factors for sustainable development, especially amid climate change. MRCB is also interested in participating in projects aimed at upgrading Uzbekistan’s transport infrastructure.
Among other promising areas, the Malaysian side highlighted the agricultural sector — from increasing productivity and creating processing capacities to implementing modern digital solutions such as “smart farming,” which contribute to improved crop yields and product quality.
The sphere of green energy also received significant attention. The company is considering the implementation of projects in renewable energy, including the construction of solar and wind power plants, as well as waste-to-energy initiatives.
Additionally, the meeting covered prospects for MRCB’s participation in Uzbekistan’s state asset privatization program, which could open further opportunities for joint projects in real estate and infrastructure construction.
Imran Salim noted that, given the company’s extensive experience in implementing PPP projects in Malaysia, MRCB is ready to explore active participation in similar initiatives in Uzbekistan.
Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad was founded in 1968 and today represents a diversified group comprising 70 subsidiaries. The company employs over 1,500 staff. Beyond its traditional development and engineering sectors, MRCB also provides services in environmental safety, environmental protection, and parking infrastructure management.
