Uzbekistan and Malaysia Agree to Expand Cooperation in Energy, Water Resources, and Islamic Finance
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 23 June, a meeting was held between the Malaysian delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Energy Transition and Water Resources Transformation Dato’ Sri Fadillah bin Haji Yusof and Uzbekistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov.
The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, developing joint projects, and expanding business ties. Particular attention was given to exchanging experience and establishing sustainable cooperation mechanisms between public and private sectors of both countries.
Among the priority areas of partnership, the sides highlighted initiatives in semiconductor manufacturing, advancing Islamic finance through technical assistance and the implementation of specialized financial instruments, efficient water resource management, and the modernization of water supply systems using advanced technologies.
The talks also covered support for small and medium-sized enterprises, including experience-sharing on the application of ESG standards for business entities.
Environmental sustainability and the accelerated transition to a green economy were key topics as well, with both sides emphasizing the importance of developing carbon trading mechanisms and implementing energy efficiency projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties reaffirmed their mutual interest in deepening cooperation and expressed readiness to jointly implement promising initiatives across the identified sectors.
