Uzbekistan and Italy strengthen strategic partnership

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following talks in Samarkand between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, and the Prime Minister of the Italian Republic, Giorgia Meloni, a Joint Declaration was signed on strengthening the strategic partnership between the two countries.

In the presence of the two leaders, a signing ceremony was held for several key bilateral agreements covering a wide range of areas.

These include an agreement on the promotion and mutual protection of investments aimed at creating favorable conditions for bilateral capital flows; cooperation in the field of critical raw materials, with a focus on sustainable supply chains and industrial cooperation; collaboration on migration and mobility, addressing the interests of both sides in labor migration and academic exchange; partnership in sustainable development, environmental protection, and preservation of cultural heritage; engagement with the Climate Fund and the Confederation of Italian Agriculture, as well as cooperation with Italian companies such as Sogesid and Ansaldo in the sphere of green development; and academic partnerships with the universities of Tuscia, Pisa, and Turin, intended to expand academic exchange and joint scientific research.

In addition, the visit saw the signing of cooperation documents with Italy’s National Research Council, the companies SIMEST and Danieli, the University of Perugia, and several other Italian partners.

The agreements reached reflect a qualitative shift in Uzbekistan–Italy relations, marking a new stage based on mutual trust, the complementarity of the two economies, and a shared commitment to sustainable development.
