Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 24 to 26 February 2025, a working group led by Abduvali Sadykov, Deputy Chairman of the Uztextileprom Association, visited Georgia for meetings and negotiations with several Georgian textile companies.

During the visit, preliminary agreements were reached with Georgian textile enterprises Makratelli, Situationist, BOLDI, and Maroma Collection regarding the supply of fabrics and textile materials. Additionally, negotiations with Overdose resulted in an agreement to explore the production of finished textile products based on models presented by the Georgian side.

On the second day of the visit, the Uzbek delegation visited the Poti Free Industrial Zone (FIZ) to assess the potential for organizing textile production in Georgia. Representatives of Uzbek enterprises familiarized themselves with the opportunities offered by the zone and held talks with Fargin Textile and Poti Textile. Discussions focused on the supply of knitwear fabrics, industrial cooperation, and export opportunities to European markets.

The possibility of establishing a joint venture was also considered.

In Tbilisi, the delegation met with Tamar Khetsadze, Investment Director of Poti FIZ, to discuss tax incentives, export and import conditions, factoring, and joint venture prospects. Following the meeting, the Georgian side agreed to provide analytical data on investment opportunities for foreign businesses.

Recognizing Tbilisi’s high tourism potential, Uzbek textile company Imperiya Teks announced plans to open a retail store and warehouse in the city. The financing for these projects is expected to be facilitated through the Trade Development Company, while Uztextileprom member enterprises will be able to showcase their products in the new store. Preparations for these initiatives are currently underway.
