Uzbekistan and China Sign Package of Agreements Following Talks Between Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Xi Jinping
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Following the talks between President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping in Beijing, a ceremony was held to exchange bilateral documents.
The key outcome of the meeting was the adoption of a Cooperation Program to align Uzbekistan’s national development strategy Uzbekistan–2030 with China’s Belt and Road Initiative. In addition, agreements were signed on the mutual establishment of cultural centers and on cooperation in healthcare services.
As part of the visit, the sides also concluded a number of documents covering a wide range of areas — from the design of the second phase of dredger supplies to agreements on technical and economic cooperation, phytosanitary requirements for the export of Uzbek melons and almonds, as well as cooperation in space research, competition policy, the digital economy, and human resource development.
An agreement was also signed establishing a partnership between Uzbekistan’s Samarkand region and the Chinese city of Tianjin. The Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan and the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade agreed to expand institutional cooperation.
