Uzbekistan and Belarus discuss transport cooperation development
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — A delegation from the Embassy of Uzbekistan, led by Rakhmatulla Nazarov, held talks with the Minister of Transport and Communications of Belarus, Aleksei Lyakhnovich, according to Dunyo news agency.
The discussions focused on prospects for bilateral cooperation, including the transition to a permit-free system for international road freight transport. The Belarusian side believes this move will significantly boost trade turnover between the two countries.
Belarus expressed readiness to host a meeting of the Belarus-Uzbekistan Joint Commission on International Transport in Minsk in March-April and to organize a familiarization visit for the Uzbek delegation to border crossing points with Poland, Latvia, and Lithuania.
Additionally, the Belarusian side reaffirmed its interest in developing a multimodal transport corridor connecting Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, as well as in cooperating on the international transport and logistics hub in Termez.
Further discussions covered the implementation of Belarusian expertise in public transport, airport runway design, and the installation of road signs in Uzbekistan.
Following the meeting, both sides agreed to further strengthen their cooperation.
