Uzbekistan and Belarus Discuss New Joint Projects in Tashkent

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The twelfth meeting of the joint intergovernmental commission on bilateral cooperation between Uzbekistan and Belarus was held in Tashkent, focusing on expanding trade, economic and investment cooperation, as well as establishing new joint production facilities.

The talks were attended by delegations from both countries led by Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Yury Shuleiko and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev.

Participants noted that relations between the two countries continue to develop steadily, with expanding formats of cooperation including interregional forums, business councils, and private-sector initiatives.

It was reported that trade turnover between Uzbekistan and Belarus has shown steady growth, reaching a record level in 2025. Positive dynamics continued in the first quarter of the current year.

The sides emphasized that Belarus continues to supply Uzbekistan with agricultural products, timber and wood-processing goods, petrochemical products, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural and household machinery. In turn, Uzbekistan is strengthening its presence in the Belarusian market through joint ventures and investment projects.

According to data presented at the meeting, there are currently 245 enterprises with Belarusian capital operating in Uzbekistan, while 110 companies with Uzbek participation are active in Belarus. The total portfolio of joint projects is estimated at US$341 million. Mutual trade increased by 25% in 2025, approaching US$1 billion.

Special attention was given to transitioning to a new stage of economic cooperation, including the development of a long-term cooperation strategy. In this context, the parties discussed preparing a roadmap for 2026–2030 and reaching a target of US$2 billion in trade turnover by 2030.

Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev said further partnership development should focus on practical project implementation, expansion of industrial cooperation, development of logistics routes, and strengthening interregional ties. He emphasized Uzbekistan’s interest in attracting technology, investment, and long-term industrial solutions oriented toward both domestic and export markets.

The meeting also reviewed prospects for expanding cooperation in industry, agriculture, transport, logistics, education, and science and innovation. Special attention was paid to strengthening the legal framework and developing new forms of regional cooperation.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to deepening economic partnership and implementing joint projects aimed at sustainable growth in mutual trade and industrial integration.
