Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan Strengthen Cooperation in Tax Administration
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Chairman of the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan, Sherzod Kudbiev, took part in the 29th General Assembly of the Intra-European Organisation of Tax Administrations (IOTA), held in Baku at the invitation of the head of the State Tax Service of Azerbaijan, Orkhan Nazarli.
During the visit, Kudbiev met with IOTA Secretary General Alix Perrignon de Troyes, who expressed strong interest in deepening cooperation with Uzbekistan’s tax authority. The visit builds on high-level bilateral agreements and is closely linked to the ratification of the Treaty on Allied Relations between Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.
The tax authorities of both countries have already established a regular exchange of experience in effective tax administration practices. The Azerbaijani side has shown particular interest in Uzbekistan’s experience with the Business Resilience Rating system and is considering adapting the model for use in its own context.
In turn, the State Tax Committee of Uzbekistan expressed interest in studying Azerbaijan’s experience in developing a system for accounting and measuring natural gas during extraction and transportation, as well as in exchanging best practices in the enforcement of double taxation avoidance agreements.
This visit by Uzbekistan’s tax leadership not only reinforced bilateral ties with Azerbaijan but also laid the foundation for more active engagement with IOTA.
IOTA currently unites 43 member countries and is recognized by international experts as one of the leading platforms for the systematization and dissemination of advanced tax administration reforms, with a strong focus on practical application.
