Uzbekistan and Austria discuss expanding cooperation in agriculture and digitalization

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Deputy Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Akmal Kasimov held a meeting with members of a delegation led by Austria’s Deputy Minister of Finance Andreas Reichhardt.

During the meeting, the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation were discussed in detail. Akmal Kasimov highlighted the friendly relations between Uzbekistan and Austria and emphasized the need to expand the partnership in the agricultural sector.

Particular attention was given to the introduction of modern technologies, advanced practices, and investments capable of elevating the country’s agrarian sector to a new level.

Discussions covered the expansion of export-import ties, deep processing of food products, and the implementation of joint projects in livestock farming and horticulture. Proposals were made to study Austria’s experience in subsidies, insurance, and agricultural education for subsequent adaptation to Uzbekistan’s conditions.

A key focus area was digitalization, including the introduction of digital subsidy systems, training of qualified personnel, as well as the application of greenhouse technologies, water resource management, and the concept of “smart agriculture” based on Austrian developments.

In conclusion, the parties agreed to develop concrete proposals on the discussed topics and determine further practical steps for implementing joint initiatives.
