Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 30 May 2025, Abdullo Azizov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency of Uzbekistan, held negotiations with representatives of Afghanistan’s largest pharmaceutical distribution companies.

During the meeting, the parties thoroughly discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation in the pharmaceutical field. Special attention was given to increasing bilateral trade in pharmaceutical products, launching joint manufacturing ventures in Afghanistan, training qualified specialists, sharing professional expertise, and introducing modern technological solutions in the industry.

An introductory visit was organized for the Afghan delegation to leading pharmaceutical enterprises in Uzbekistan. The guests were acquainted in detail with production processes in compliance with international GMP standards, as well as with the technological equipment, laboratory infrastructure, and quality control systems in place.

The Afghan side praised the dynamic development of Uzbekistan’s pharmaceutical sector, the competitiveness of its products, and their export potential. The high demand for Uzbek medicines in the Afghan market was noted, and readiness was expressed to begin establishing joint production facilities in the near future.

The visit by Afghan business representatives marked a significant step toward the practical implementation of healthcare and pharmaceutical initiatives. In the long term, this cooperation is expected to deliver tangible strategic benefits for both countries.
