Uzbekistan and Afghanistan strengthen cooperation in the electric power sector

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — From 10 to 13 May 2025, significant business meetings took place in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif as part of a visit by Uzbek entrepreneurs, focused on the electric power industry. The B2B-format negotiations marked an important step in developing bilateral cooperation.

During the meetings, representatives of leading Uzbek energy companies and local Afghan entrepreneurs discussed opportunities for mutually beneficial collaboration. The main focus was on establishing direct export mechanisms, creating supply chains, and increasing trade volumes in the electric power sector.

The parties exchanged views on the real needs of the Afghan market, the requirements of local distributors and buyers, and also discussed logistical opportunities and customs regulations. An essential part of the negotiations involved the representatives of the "Uzeltihsanoat" Association, who proposed specific initiatives and recommendations for the export of electrical power products.

These meetings serve as a crucial foundation for further industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Afghanistan, strengthening the position of Uzbek products in the Afghan market, and establishing long-term economic partnerships.
