Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan Airways, the national carrier of Uzbekistan, and China Southern Airlines, one of China’s largest airlines, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding, marking a new chapter in aviation cooperation between the two countries.

The document outlines plans for strategic expansion of the partnership in several key areas, including the signing of interline and codeshare agreements, the development of cargo transportation, the introduction of joint ancillary services, and the enhancement of passenger service quality. The agreement establishes a framework for closer integration of route networks and improved air connectivity between Uzbekistan and China.

Chairman of the Board of Uzbekistan Airways Shukhrat Khudaykulov emphasized that China is a priority strategic market for the airline. According to him, cooperation with China Southern Airlines will significantly expand the flight network, enhance passenger comfort, and give new momentum to air links between the two countries.
“We are confident that this partnership will serve as a solid foundation for shaping the Air Silk Road of the future,” Khudaykulov noted.

China Southern Airlines President and CEO Han Wensheng, in turn, stated that entering the Central Asian market holds special significance for the company.
“Cooperation with Uzbekistan Airways will allow us to combine our strengths, offer passengers a wider range of services, and make the Air Silk Road an important bridge for economic and cultural exchange,” he said.

The signing of the memorandum continues Uzbekistan Airways’ course toward expanding international partnerships and strengthening transport connectivity with key regions. The joint initiatives of the two airlines are expected to provide passengers with more convenient routes and connections, while significantly improving the overall quality of service.
