Uzbekistan Adopts Law on Mandatory Identification and Registration of Animals
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan has adopted the Law “On Identification, Registration, and Traceability of Animals,” introducing mandatory state registration of all animals kept or bred by individuals and legal entities across the country.
The Committee for the Development of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Husbandry has been designated as the responsible authority for implementing the law.
The legislation sets clear deadlines for identification and registration: cattle, sheep, goats, and camels must be registered within 14 days of birth; horses within four months; pigs within one month; and dogs and cats within three months. The process must be completed no later than one month after the expiration of these deadlines. Imported animals must be identified within 21 days of entry into Uzbekistan.
During a Senate session, it was noted that previous identification efforts were incomplete, hindering vaccination campaigns and the maintenance of epizootic stability.
The adoption of this law will establish a unified electronic database containing detailed information on breeds, health status, and movements of animals, ensuring systematic monitoring and effective control over their management.
