Uzbek Products May Enter Japanese and South Korean Markets via Mongolia
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Industrial cooperation between Uzbekistan and Mongolia is gaining a new strategic dimension.
Favorable geographic conditions, the availability of raw materials, and processing capabilities are creating a strong foundation for the production of competitive goods targeting both regional and global markets.
During a business mission to Mongolia led by Akbar Sultanov, Chairman of the Uzcharmsanoat Association, a series of productive negotiations were held. Particular interest was shown in the potential export of Uzbek-made gelatin and protein products. The Mongolian side expressed readiness to facilitate re-export of these goods to South Korea and Japan via its territory.
This format of cooperation opens new export channels for Uzbek producers and supports their integration into global supply chains. Mongolia's logistical advantages, customs preferences, and strategic location in the region, combined with the high quality of Uzbek products, create a solid foundation for mutually beneficial partnerships.
As part of the visit, the Uzbek delegation also toured the "ECO Industrial Zone" in Ulaanbaatar. Delegates examined the zone’s infrastructure, energy supply, and investment potential. One of the initiatives discussed was collaboration in wool processing and yarn production, with the possibility of outsourcing part of the production process to facilities in Uzbekistan.
Another key area of cooperation involved establishing direct contacts with Mongolian suppliers of meat and raw hides. These agreements will ensure a stable supply of raw materials for Uzbekistan’s leather industry, helping to optimize production costs.
Of strategic interest is the opportunity to expand the presence of Uzbek industrial goods in the high-value markets of East Asia.
The organization of gelatin, protein, wool, and leather processing, followed by the export of finished goods through Mongolian territory, could become a crucial component in boosting the international competitiveness of Uzbekistan’s manufacturing sector and deepening its economic integration with the Asia-Pacific region.
