Uzbek Club May Join Manchester City’s Global Football Network

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — The owners of the English football club Manchester City are reportedly planning to expand their global presence by acquiring one of Uzbekistan’s football clubs. This was announced by Otabek Umarov, Deputy Chairman of the National Olympic Committee of Uzbekistan.

According to Umarov, discussions are underway regarding the possible inclusion of one of Uzbekistan’s teams into the City Football Group (CFG), a global football holding that currently owns over ten clubs around the world.

Umarov noted that international investor interest in Uzbek football has significantly increased, particularly following the transfer of Abbosbek Fayzullaev to a European club.

The potential deal is expected to create entirely new opportunities for the development of Uzbekistan’s football ecosystem. Uzbek players could gain access to international platforms, modern training methodologies, the expertise of top-level coaches and specialists, and state-of-the-art sports infrastructure. Furthermore, joining CFG would bring substantial investment into the local club and open the door to global support at all levels.

In addition, sources indicate that the holding is also interested in signing one of Uzbekistan’s promising young footballers who currently plays for a national youth team. The name of the player and details of the potential transfer have not yet been disclosed, but an official announcement is expected soon.
