Uzbek Authorities Foil Smuggling of Potent Drugs from Kyrgyzstan in Namangan and Ferghana Regions

Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — In Namangan and Ferghana regions, the State Security Service, together with law enforcement and customs authorities, intercepted attempts to import and distribute potent pharmaceuticals from Kyrgyzstan.

In Namangan, a previously convicted resident organized the shipment of 16,700 tablets of the drug “Regapen” through an acquaintance from the neighboring country. The medicines were smuggled into the Kasansay district and hidden in a stash. The courier was arrested upon receiving the consignment, and later the organizer was also detained. Both are facing criminal charges and are in custody.

In Ferghana, a car belonging to a resident of Kokand was stopped by authorities, and a search revealed 11,200 tablets of “Regapen” in the trunk, brought from Kyrgyzstan via clandestine routes. The suspect had a prior record for similar crimes; he is now facing criminal charges and is in custody.

Investigations into both cases are ongoing.
