Uzbek Ambassador Meets Kuala Lumpur Mayor: Focus on Culture, Tourism, and Youth
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — Uzbekistan’s Ambassador to Malaysia, Karomiddin Gadoev, met with the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, Maimunah Mohd Sharif, to discuss expanding cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the two countries.
According to the Dunyo news agency, the two sides agreed on a joint action plan for collaboration in the fields of creative tourism, arts, culture, and youth engagement.
A key outcome of the meeting was the agreement to organize Uzbekistan Cultural Days in Kuala Lumpur this September. In return, Malaysia Cultural Days will be held in Samarkand this October, coinciding with the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Assembly.
Special attention was given to promoting Uzbekistan’s tourism potential in the Malaysian market. The Kuala Lumpur City Hall expressed readiness to assist in raising awareness among both local residents and international visitors.
The Malaysian side also invited Uzbek performing arts groups to take part in major cultural events planned as part of Malaysia’s ASEAN Chairmanship and the national “Visit Malaysia 2026” tourism campaign.
At the end of the meeting, Mayor Maimunah Mohd Sharif extended an invitation to representatives from the city administrations of Tashkent and Samarkand to participate in the Mayors and Governors Forum — one of Malaysia’s flagship international events scheduled for later this year.
