UNESCO Launches AI Readiness Assessment Project in Uzbekistan
Tashkent, Uzbekistan (UzDaily.com) — On 20 August, Tashkent hosted the official launch of the study “Readiness Assessment Methodology (RAM) for Artificial Intelligence in Uzbekistan”, initiated by UNESCO.
First Deputy Minister of Digital Technologies Oleg Pekos delivered a keynote speech, stressing that the project is of strategic importance for ensuring responsible and transparent integration of artificial intelligence technologies in the country.
He noted that the initiative focuses on upholding ethical standards and aligning Uzbekistan’s regulatory framework with international requirements.
As part of the project, a working group meeting will be held on 22 August at the Ministry of Digital Technologies to discuss practical aspects of the study and mechanisms for integrating its findings into national legislation.
It is also worth noting that from 30 October to 13 November 2025, Samarkand will host the UNESCO General Conference, where issues of digitalization and artificial intelligence are expected to be high on the agenda.
